Sustainability and the environment

Sustainability means ensuring that life and its natural and human systems that support us are cared for today so that they are here in good health tomorrow. And for generations to come.

For the Gunditjmara people from western Victoria, Australia, sustainability is defined as: 'you never take more than you need' (sourced from https://museumvictoria.com.au/bunjilaka/).

From producing Melbourne Water's River Health Incentives Program 21st anniversary films, to a remarkable On-country collaboration between the Wilderness Society and the Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre in Tasmania's takayna / Tarkine and East Gippsland Catchment Management Authority river films, caring for and celebrating the natural and cultural elements of 'our backyard' becomes increasingly important.

Sustainability and the environment is woven into:
  • natural resource management
  • indigenous knowledge
  • wildlife rehabilitation
  • natural sciences
  • wild and remote landscapes including World Heritage properties
